Nadia is a Bilingual- Spanish speaking Licensed Clinical Social Worker.  She has lived in the South Bay for over 30 years. Nadia graduated with her Master’s in Social Work from San Diego State University. She is a dedicated social worker, who has over 15 years’ experience working with individuals, families, and children in various capacities including trauma, mental illness, life transitions, relationship instability, grief and loss, substance abuse, justice involved, and developmental disabilities. Nadia uses a strengths-based, client centered approach in treatment and focuses utilizing optimal psychosocial care to address life’s challenges, depression, anxiety, psychosis, and other mental health symptoms that may cause distress in your life.  Her treatment modalities include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Solution Focused Brief therapy. Additionally, she utilizes distress tolerance skills to assist in regulating client’s emotions. Nadia strongly believes in creating a safe space for clients without judgement. She understands that clients are experts in their lives and focuses on collaborating with her clients to determine their needs, meeting her clients where they need to be. She works together with her clients to lead them to a better understanding of themselves, have healthier relationships, developing solutions to problems, and assisting with reductions in feeling of distress.

Callie Reece, LMFT

Callie has been working in the mental health field for the last 7 years. She utilizes evidence based practices in treatment such as: Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical  Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Client Centered Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution Focused Therapy to build rapport, collaborate on treatment goals, learn and practice healthy coping skills, and reduce negative thoughts patterns. She is a Certified Clinical Trauma professional and has extensive training in trauma informed care. She is also a Certified Telemental Health Professional and has acquired training to provide safe and secure Telehealth services. She has experience working with children in schools and adolescents in group home settings. She has experience effectively treating both mental health concerns and substance use problems. She has worked in intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) providing group therapy as well. Callie is eager to work with individuals carrying mental health symptoms such as: psychosis, anxiety, depression, substance use, and trauma. Callie joined Grow Through Life Counseling in 2020 and enjoys working with individuals, couples, and families.

Adriana Covarrubias is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in California. She has a master’s degree in social work from the University of Southern California with a concentration in mental health and a Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology and Development from Universidad Anáhuac, Mexico City. She has many years of experience working with families and teenagers in school settings and extra curricular activities in Spain, New England and Mexico. Adriana has a compassionate, authentic and down to earth approach to therapy, meeting clients where they are at. Her approach to therapy is person-centered and strength based. Adriana has experience in trauma informed care, grief and loss, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), psychotherapy, motivational interviewing along with other evidence-based practices. Adriana is looking to build strong therapeutic relationships with her clients in a non-judgmental and safe space, so as to help clients navigate life’s stressors and walk with them through the healing process. She’s bilingual and offers services in English and Spanish.

Haley received her Master of Social work with a concentration in Children, Youth, and Families from the University of Southern California. Haley is an empathetic and down-to-earth therapist who is passionate about supporting children, teens, and their families through times of struggle. She has extensive experience working with youth in a variety of capacities some of which include school settings and outpatient programs for youth experiencing a variety of struggles including depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, substance use disorders, grief and loss and more. Haley takes a person-centered, strengths-based approach when working with clients while incorporating aspects of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing along with other evidence-based practices. She is dedicated to using modalities that best fit each client’s needs and personality to help them get a better understanding of themselves, identify effective coping skills, and recognize their agency and ability to create the meaningful and lasting change that they are seeking in their lives.

Gertrudis graduated from SDSU in 2010 and obtained a M.S. in Counseling. Gertrudis has gained experience working with families, youth and children.  She has worked with grief and loss, depression, anxiety, trauma, and ADHD as well as other behavioral concerns. Gertrudis implements Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma Focused-CBT, Solution Focused Therapy and Play Therapy approaches to restore functioning and overall wellbeing.  Gertrudis has invaluable experience facilitating evidenced based practices in positive parenting to families with a history of referrals to Child Welfare services. By facilitating family therapy and positive parenting, Gertrudis has developed the essential skills of being supportive, empathetic and culturally sensitive with the focus in helping families to achieve their goals. She is a bilingual speaker in both Spanish and English.

 Cristina has been in the field for the past 8 years. Cristina is compassionate and enjoys working with families specializing in children and adolescents. She has collaborated with the Juvenile Justice Department as well as the local School Districts. She has also implemented Elementary based prevention and intervention programs. She believes in the importance of the therapeutic relationship and she is able to display a great level of empathy.  She holds a solid commitment to the social and emotional growth of individuals. Cristina promotes the client centered approach and enjoys applying different techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Play Therapy and Mindfulness. She is bilingual and offers therapy in both English and Spanish.

She has over 8 years of experience at UCSD aiding adults and families to create a healthier lifestyle through novel behavioral weight management as part of current research. As an associate at Southwestern College, Monica provided individual and group therapy to college students in the areas of depression, anxiety, grief and loss, test anxiety, assertive communication, self esteem, time management and emotional regulation skills. She has also facilitated individual and group therapy and crisis management with safety plans at API. Monica uses Cognitive Behavioral therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to empower patients to discover their internal strengths to increase resiliency and self-esteem. She is bilingual/bicultural and provides counseling services in both English and Spanish.

Matti is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the state of California. She received her Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from National University. With a history of working as an elementary school teacher, with youth and families involved in the juvenile justice system, and with youth in PHP and IOP care Matti has experience both in short and long term care.  Matti believes in a trauma informed approach and has been certified as a Brief Strategic Family Therapist, and is currently being trained in EMDR with a focus on trauma. She has a passion for working with families and improving their relationships with each other through communication. Matti specializes in family work, abuse, trauma, substance abuse, feelings of sadness, working with adolescents and children, and has personal experience with the military community.

Lysette discovered her love for working with youth while volunteering at Juvenile Hall during her college years. Over the past 19 years, she has had the privilege to work with children, youth and families in their schools, homes and communities, with the aim to promote open communication, healthy choices, and positive self-worth. Lysette sees therapy as a partnership that develops through acceptance and compassion. She believes that by building on strengths and internal resources, you can work together to activate change. When working with children and youth, Lysette regards the family unit as a critical support system, and welcomes family member participation whenever possible. In joining the Grow Through Life Counseling team, Lysette is looking forward to providing culturally sensitive, individualized, and effective and practical approaches for you and your family. From managing life stressors, to addressing signs of depression or anxiety, or feeling at a loss with your teen’s behavior, Lysette is ready to hear your concerns and begin looking toward solutions, together.

Dulce is a compassionate therapist who enjoys working with children and families overcome challenges. She is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), Play Therapy, parenting skills, Solution Focused Therapy, CBT, DBT, substance use disorders, and takes an Attachment based therapeutic approach. Jennifer is currently working toward her certification in Play Therapy and enjoys working with children, adolescents, and adults. She also provides parent education and support, being certified in both Positive Discipline and as a Circle of Security parent educator. Jennifer has experience in providing outpatient therapy to both children, teens and families in a variety of settings.

Deanna received her Master of Social Work Degree from the University of Southern Mississippi.   Her extensive experience includes working with children as well as military members and their families.  Deanna believes in a client-centered approach and utilizes the modality of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) while working with children and adults.  Building self-esteem, working through traumatic experiences, strengthening communication skills, and addressing social anxiety are Deanna’s strengths.  She believes in providing an environment where clients can explore their fears comfortably and “rehearse” new ways to improve their life circumstances. Deanna loves working with couples as well. Deanna looks forward to helping you identify new coping skills and live your best life!

Claudina is bilingual English and Arabic and offers services in both languages.
