Welcome Mely Quiroz, APCC
Mely earned their Master of Science degree in Multicultural Counseling from San Diego State University. Mely is bilingual and can provide therapy in both English and Spanish. Mely enjoys working with youth who need support in all areas including: depression, anxiety and especially enjoys helping youth and families navigate challenges of dealing with ADHD. Mely’s work with LGBTQI+ transitional age youth and severely mentally ill adults inside local community clinics have strengthened their experience and expanded their knowledge. They focus on connecting with clients with compassion and an open-mind and use a strengths-based approach to help clients develop and strengthen coping skills when managing depression, anxiety and ADHD. Mely integrates a multicultural lens by considering the various identities of a client and how the intersecting identities shape the client’s experience in the world and in therapy. Mely is non-binary/trans-masculine, and uses they/them pronouns. Mely is easy to connect with and brings a warmth to the care they provide. They have specialized experience in LGBTQI+ affirming therapy and gender affirming therapy which creates a safe space for exploration and self-discovery. Mely joined the team at Grow Through Life Counseling in 2020 to serve children, teens and families in the Chula Vista and surrounding areas. Mely offers services in both in person (with COVID precautions) or via Telehealth at this time.
