1. California Registered Associate Therapist
Starting your career as an Associate Therapist is an excellent way to gain practical experience in counseling. In this role, you will work under the supervision of licensed professionals, applying the theoretical knowledge you acquired during your studies. Most Associate Therapists engage in 25-30 hours of direct client contact each week, allowing them to build essential skills in assessment and therapeutic techniques.
During this phase, you will conduct assessments, create treatment plans and provide individual, couples and family therapy sessions, learning how to establish therapeutic relationships while enhancing your counseling identity. With mentorship and supervision, you will receive important guidance and make connections that will be valuable as your career progresses.
2. California Licensed Therapist
Achieving the status of Licensed Therapist is a significant milestone in your counseling career. To become licensed in California, you must pass the relevant examinations and complete approximately 3,000 hours of supervised clinical training. This transition brings increased responsibilities and autonomy, allowing you to create individualized treatment plans and foster deeper therapeutic relationships.
As a Licensed Therapist, you will focus on a specialization that aligns with your interests, be it family therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, or trauma-informed care. 3. Clinical Mentor
Once you have gained experience, we offer the opportunity to move into additional tasks by adding the role of Clinical Mentor. This allows you to share your knowledge and expertise with those in thier first 90 days of employment at our practice. As a Grow Through Life Counseling Clinical Mentor, you will guide Therapists and newly hired licensed clinicians, offering them support and supervision as they navigate their careers and get familiar with our group practice.
This role is not just about mentoring others; it also helps you refine your leadership skills. Your contributions can significantly shape the next generation of counselors while reinforcing your own understanding of key principles. Outpatient care requires skills in communicating treatment plans and assessing motivation as well scheduling which our mentors are all great at and can support newer team members with.
4. Clinical Supervisor
In Californa, 2 years post licensure, clinicians can now qualify to sign hours of Assoicate Therapists and provide a deep level of support during this part of their clinical development. This additional role involves overseeing the training and professional development of Associate Therapists, ensuring that they meet the highest professional standards.
As a Clinical Supervisor, you will evaluate therapeutic practices, develop training programs, and provide constructive feedback. Through this leadership role, you help create a culture of continuous learning and improvement. Research indicates that strong supervision can enhance the effectiveness of therapy, leading to better client outcomes. This a rewarding role as it often has a long term impact on early career therapists.
5. Clinical Leader
Following your success as a Clinical Supervisor, we also have opportunites to become a Clinical Leader of a location. In this role, you will oversee all the clinical work and operations at your location. Our leaders need exceptional communication skills and the ability to think strategically. They are go getters and go above and beyond in showing up for their teams.
Clinical Leaders implement innovative initiatives, and support their team needs.
